Emily Shoyer

Emily Shoyer is a first year Master’s candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, utilizing a psychoanalytic approach to modern and contemporary art created in response to experiences of collective and personal trauma. Originally from Chevy Chase, Maryland (just outside Washington, D.C.) she received her B.A. in Art History with a minor in English from Barnard College, Columbia University. As an undergraduate, Emily completed research based and curatorial internships at Christie’s Inc., the Jewish Museum, Smithsonian Archives of American Art, Whitney Museum of American Art and most recently at the Museum of Modern Art. She is currently an Exhibitions Research Assistant at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum working on a special exhibition to open next summer and hopes to apply her experience with the NYU Curatorial Collaborative to her current and future work in the museum world.
