Desiree Mitton grew up in New York City. She’s currently pursuing a doctorate degree in art history at the Institute of Fine Arts. Her approach to visual studies tends to be interdisciplinary and improvised. When she’s not pretending to be a specialist, she dabbles in theater. Desiree was thrilled to be part of the NYU Curatorial Collaborative’s 2016-17 season. Listening to and creating context for working artists is her preferred pastime.

In the 2016 -2017 season of the NYU Curatorial Collaborative, Mitton co-organized the ten artist group exhibition Vestige(s) with fellow curator, Lisa A. Orcutt.
