Kasalina Maliamu Nabakooza

Kasalina Maliamu Nabakooza is a first year M.A. student at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, studying Contemporary African Art. She graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an MFA in Electronic Arts in May 2018. Nabakooza was the Curator of the Shelnutt Gallery in RPI’s Student Union from September 2016 to May 2018. She curated shows across campus including an exhibition for a visiting artist at the Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center which won an award for exhibition design from the Theater Association of New York State. Before graduation after completing her thesis she traveled to Kampala, Uganda in April 2018. During her time there, she presented her MFA Thesis and screened her animation, “Kakooza” in the Makerere Art Gallery on the campus of Makerere University.
