Defne Cemal

Defne Cemal is an Istanbul born artist who will receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University in the Spring of 2019. Her work explores how collective and political memory construct identity and vice versa. She deals with themes such as materiality, time, language and memory by rendering the texture of Istanbul into metaphors that explore a personal past and a political present. Defne Cemal’s work was exhibited in A Veil Between Us, February 20 – 23, 2019

Samhita Kamisetty

Samhita Kamisetty was born in Portland, Oregon on a Sunday late December. She moved to Bangalore, India when she was 6 and lived there for 13 and a half years. This past summer, she attended Yale Norfolk School of Art and will also receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University in May. Her recent work includes a ceramic book called keep in touch and drawings on bristol paper of herself in spaces she has observed. Kara Kendall

Kara Kendall is from Northern Virginia. Currently, she is living, working, looking, sensing,practicing, responding, reciprocating, generating, thinking, feeling, and walking around New York. She is inspired by synchronicity and immediacy and meditates on the thought of making a rash decision. In May 2019 she will graduate from the Studio Art program at New York University with a minor in Creative Writing. Taryn DeLeon Mendiola

Taryn DeLeon Mendiola does not like to say where she was born and is currently living in New York.  She is Chamorro and grew up near military bases in Kuwait, Qatar, and Colorado.  Her family and multi-cultural background are strong influences in her work.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of the Arts in History from New York University in 2019. Hannah Murphy

Hannah Murphy was born in Paris and raised in New York where she continues to live and work. Her recent work explores the threads between humans and the ecological systems they both inhabit and are part of, in turn, highlighting the precarity inherent in this relationships.
