Patryk Tomaszewski

Patryk Tomaszewski is an M.A. candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU and received his B.A. with Honors in Art History from Fordham University in New York. His graduate research focuses on the history and theory of Western abstraction with a methodological emphasis on socio-cultural environments that have motivated the rise and development of non-figurative art both in Europe and the United States. Training to become a curator, Tomaszewski completed the 2015 Summer Internship Program at MoMA in the Department of Photography working under Senior Curator Roxana Marcoci. Previously, he also worked at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Marian Goodman Gallery, New York, and helped organize the 2012 edition of PINTA Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art Fair in New York. He is currently the Managing Editor of ifacontemporary.org, a critical contemporary art platform for students and alumni of the Institute of Fine Arts.

In the inaugural, 2014-2015 season of the NYU Curatorial Collaborative, Tomaszewski co-curated the ten artist group exhibition, Absence / Presence with fellow curators, Anna Blum, Riad KherdeenEloise Maxwell, and Tola Porter.
